Itinerary

You will be picked up from your accommodation in Cusco at around 3.00am. You will need to make an early start because it takes some time to drive to the Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain.

Your transport will take the southern route out of Cusco for around an hour and a half before reaching the Cusipata district where you will have breakfast. A hearty meal is very important so you will have the energy that you need for the hike ahead.

After travelling for around another hour, you will reach Chilliwani which is the warm-up sport and where you will begin the trail from. Chilliwani sits at a whopping 4,600m above sea level!

The views of the surrounding area are incredible and something that you will never forget from your visit to Peru. There also is the opportunity to see a whole myriad of nature that can only be found in South America. Make sure you keep your eyes peeled for llamas, alpacas, vicuñas and even condors!

Your guide will teach you about Incan traditions and the life of the local people who live in the area. After two hours of hiking, you will reach your destination: the miraculous Vinicuna Rainbow Mountain. This mountain of colours stands at 5,100m. From here, you will be able to take in the views of the Vilcanota mountain range and the highest glacier in the area: Cusco Ausangate (6,375m).

Once you have reached the Vinicuna Rainbow Mountain, you will be given snacks to enjoy. There will be a rest stop here to make sure that you have the energy that you need for the next part of the hike as well as plenty of photo-taking opportunities

The descent back down the same path will take roughly an hour and a half before you board the bus to make the return journey to Cusco. On the way back, there will be a lunch stop and you will return to Cusco around 6.30-7.00pm. Drop off will be at Regosijo Plaza which is close to the central square.
