The onsite restaurant offers fantastic food at a good price but big eaters beware, the portions might leave you wanting. If you’re looking for a party, you’ll find it here. Live music is a regular occurrence with local bands and DJs bringing the tunes!

4. Trip Monkey Zona G – Best Hostel in Chapinero

  • Price: $
  • Female Only Dorms Available: No
  • Communal Kitchen: Yes

View On BookingView On Hostelworld

Looking to enter the brightest Willy Wonka-esque hostel of your life? Look no further than Trip Monkey Zona G! Located in the heart of Chapinero, one of Bogotá’s more hipster neighbourhoods, Trip Monkey offers something different to more centrally located hostels in Bogotá.

While we wouldn’t describe this as a tranquil place to stay – you’re still in the middle of one of South America’s largest cities – it’s more peaceful than being in the centre of La Candelaria. The entrance is locked around the clock but getting in is easy thanks to the 24-hour reception and attentive staff.

Trip Monkey have a few locations around Colombia and are expanding to become one of the country’s top hostel chains. The Bogotá Zona G offering has both dorms and private rooms with private bathrooms. But be aware, the bathrooms aren’t always located in the room, so you’ll need to throw some clothes on for your midnight pee!

There’s a lovely breakfast available for a small fee but if you don’t fancy this, the kitchen is large and well stocked. There are plenty of cafés, restaurants and bars nearby too!

If your trip begins or ends in Bogotá, Trip Monkey offer airport transfers for a reasonable fee – around 50,000COP (approx $12USD).

5. Selina Chapinero – Best Hostel for Digital Nomads

  • Price: $$$
  • Female Only Dorms Available: No
  • Communal Kitchen: No

View On BookingView On Hostelworld

Love ‘em or hate ‘em, Selina hostels are divisive among backpackers. For some, they offer a classy way to get some chill time but for others, they’re an expensive way to spend a couple of nights. In our experience, it’s worth splashing out on a private room in any Selina hostel as the quality is much higher than the dorms!

Selina have three locations in Bogotá but our favourite is Chapinero. It’s right next to a BBC bar (Bogotá Beer Company), which serves a range of locally brewed beers on tap, as well as excellent food! If you want to see some local football matches, this is a great spot to see passionately engaged fans – just make sure you’re cheering for the right team!

Selina, Chapinero, Bogota
Selina’s HOWM Bar is an excellent spot for an evening beer or two!

The Selina itself has a nice bar and restaurant on the first floor – don’t miss out on their excellent breakfasts! There’s also a coffee shop and small merch store downstairs.

As for activities, Selina offers plenty to keep you occupied. There are daily yoga sessions, an on-site tour desk and even a movie room for those lazy days. If you need to get some work done, you’ll appreciate the high-speed internet and fantastic coworking space – as with all Selinas, long-term stays, including access to the coworking area, can be arranged at a discounted rate.

6. Usaquen Station Hostel – Best Hostel in Usaquen

  • Price: $$
  • Female Only Dorms Available: No
  • Communal Kitchen: Yes

View On BookingView On Hostelworld

Usaquen isn’t often mentioned when considering where to stay in Bogotá but the neighbourhood offers a safe area in the city. Crammed full of chic bars, upscale eateries and, on Sundays, an excellent flea market which has to be seen to be believed, Usaquen offers a less-than-ordinary stay in Bogotá!

Usaquen Station Hostel is the perfect place to base yourself when exploring the local area – and a trip into Zona Rosa only takes 15 minutes by car. The hostel offers dorms and private rooms, although all have shared bathrooms. There’s a small, yet clean and well-equipped kitchen, but if you fancy a taste of Colombia’s finest food, some local cafés and restaurants offer discounts to Station Hostel guests!

The hostel is popular with both Colombian and international travellers, so prepare to meet folks from all walks of life! There’s a sociable vibe but this is definitely not a party hostel. The owners and kind and attentive – the perfect couple to be running a hostel!

7. El Yarumo

  • Price: $$
  • Female Only Dorms Available: Yes
  • Communal Kitchen: Yes

View On BookingView On Hostelworld

A simple, peaceful hostel in La Candelaria, El Yarumo offers a breath of fresh air from the hectic city streets. The rooms are basic but spotlessly clean and there’s a super chilled vibe throughout.

The courtyard is beautiful, giving guests a great place to relax and mingle as long as the weather is good – which is no guarantee in Bogotá! Thankfully, this isn’t the only communal space, so you won’t be stuck in your room during a downpour!

Speaking of rooms, you’ll find private options and dorms at El Yarumo, including a female-only dorm. All rooms have shared bathrooms and you’ll need to cross communal spaces to get to them – make sure you pack your best pyjamas for those nighttime toilet trips!

Colourful streets surround the hostel – if you’re looking for something to post on your Instagram, you won’t have to look far!

8. Spotty Hostels – Best Hostel for Couples in Bogotá

  • Price: $$
  • Female Only Dorms Available: No
  • Communal Kitchen: No

View On BookingView On Hostelworld

A great place for couples, Spotty Hostels Bogotá is a hostel in name only. This classy building is more of a hotel that provides budget-friendly dorm beds. From the moment you walk in, you know you’re in a good place. The staff are friendly and the polished decor oozes sophistication.

As well as dorms, there are a range of private rooms available, all with ensuite bathrooms and some even have kitchen facilities!

Don’t expect a super social vibe from Spotty Hostels, it’s just too big to make meeting other travellers easy. That said, you can often find other travellers in the bar, games room or food court. You may even spot a rogue backpacker working up a sweat in the onsite gym!

The highlight of this hostel is the rooftop terrace, pool and jacuzzi. It’s the perfect place to chill out and unwind with excellent views over the city!

9. Granada Hostel

  • Price: $
  • Female Only Dorms Available: No
  • Communal Kitchen: Yes

View On BookingView On Hostelworld

From the outside, Granada Hostel looks like little more than a house. But step through the doors and you’re treated to one of Bogotá’s top hostels! The interior is light and airy with an eclectic mix of decorations. There are common areas dotted all over the building, some more secluded than others… 😉

Granada Hostel offers a range of dorms and private rooms. Some dorms feature triple-decker bunks – a nice novelty but challenging after a few local beers! The private rooms are available in both ensuite and shared bathroom options. Be aware, the shared bathrooms can get busy, so prepare to get up early if you need a shower or want a private moment for your ablutions!

The dorm beds all feature privacy curtains, reading lamps and charging sockets – you can cocoon yourself up if you don’t feel like socialising.

As for food, you can get quality food from the bar, visit one of the many local restaurants or cook your own in the small but well-equipped kitchen.
