Sprinkled liberally with funky social spaces (patio, garden, lobby), this hostel is often named as one of the best hostels in the city. Breakfast is complimentary and so is their service to store your big bags during your Machu Picchu or any other multi-day hikes. One thing we love about this hostel is that they work with the local dog shelter, and the hostel itself is named after their pet pooch, Blacky! This is a place where many friendships and stories have been created.

6. Ecopackers Cusco – Great Hostel to Book Treks!

The interiors are pretty modern and their bathrooms are en-suite which comes with free toiletries. Packed with activities both on and off the bar, this hostel has resolved to keep the guests entertained throughout their stay. But, they are equally thoughtful. The dorm rooms are located on the other side of the bar and are equipped with soundproofing ensuring that your snooze in between the shindigs goes undisturbed. Rooms have bunk beds with privacy curtains, reading light and electrical socket. People looking for peace post arduous hikes should give this hostel a miss.

In addition, conscious travellers worried about their carbon footprint will relish this eco-friendly property. Located just a few steps away from the famed Incan ruins of Sacsayhuaman, this hostel is set on the side of a pedestrian-only road. You have to hike up to it which in itself is a fun way to feel like a local, but don’t worry, relaxing later in their hammocks will make it all worthwhile. This property is perfect to catch some downtime in between all the tours. Breakfast is sumptuous and is included in the room tariff.

13. Gaia House – Most Helpful Staff!

This hostel has an excellent location which makes it very convenient for guests who make it a base to explore the city. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the evenings are made lively with a myriad of activities like music, games, walking tours, culinary adventures etc. Breakfast is included in the tariff and WiFi is complimentary. For travellers stuck during wee-hour tour pick-ups to early check-ins, the staffs are wonderfully accommodating and kind here.

14. Klix Hostel Cusco Peru – Great Chilled Out Hostel (Also one of the Cheapest*)

Located off San Pedro market, this hostel has a very nice and easy going atmosphere. The property has a terrace perfect for a sundowner after a hard day of hiking or sightseeing. The bathrooms are en-suite and the hot water showers are to die for! Guests can find a communal kitchen if they are interested to cook their own food. Otherwise, free tea is available all throughout the day. Want a quiet night? You can surely Netflix and chill here!

15. Tupackers Hostel – Amazing Cusco View! (THE Cheapest Hostel in Cusco!)

Hostels with great views are a bonus and this one here make up for its quiet demeanour with a splendid spread of the hills that your eyes can gorge on every morning. The set up is pretty basic with nice rooms but showers could do with more hot water tbh. They have an open kitchen where hostellers can cook their own meals. The location is near to the centre and it’s quite a climb to reach the hostel – you may as well prepare those calves for some hiking now! Both breakfast and WiFi are complimentary but the latter is bit temperamental (as it is throughout the city!). As the cheapest hostel in Cusco at only $6 US per night, Tupackers is great value for money!
