Where You Stay Does matter!
As travellers on the road there is one truth you quickly pick up on, where you stay has a huge influence on the success of your trip.
- The obvious reason is for your own sanity and ability to take in as much of your day as possible; being well rested, nourished at breakfast, and comfortable in your surroundings will undoubtedly put you in a better mood.
- Then of course there is the information that good friendly staff can provide, elevating your trip from a sightseeing smorgasbord to a unique tailored experience.
- Plus, you can’t forget the location, staying the centre of it all or out in a local neighbourhood, depending on your preference both can dramatically change your opinion of a city.
- Then there’s the social scene that a hostel provides; are you looking for the best party, a restful night sleep, or a family like environment – one that will undoubtedly connect you to other travellers?
Yes, the more we thought about it the more we realised that where you stay really does influence the way in which you take in a new destination on your backpacking adventure!
What We’re Looking For!
While we travel we are on the look out for places that make us gasp with delight. The qualifications will be different; it might be a spot on social environment, beds with pillows and blankets so plush that they become the main attraction of the day, staff so knowledgable you actually toss your Lonely Planet in the trash, or a dedication to integrating hostel life with the wider community.
Whatever the specific qualities may be we are looking for places that add something special to your backpacking experience, the kind of places that, like us, you won’t be able to help but tell others about!

In order to showcase what makes each of our choices unique we have come up with a five point qualifying system. Each hostel that makes it on our list must have five unique qualities that have impressed up during our stay (and when we say impressed we mean blow our minds amazing)! The qualities vary from place to place, so you can find exactly what you’re looking for.
