Itinerary
You will be picked up from your accommodation in Santa Cruz by your guide and driver. On the journey, there will be a stop outsideย Palmasola Prison to learn about its dark past.
Once you arrive at the entrance of the National Protected Area you will continue your journey through the forests, where it is possible to see monkeys and sloths. As these animals are living in the wild, sightings can never be guaranteed, however, they are spotted regularly in these areas.
This protected area covers over 13000 hectares and is also home to some of Bolivia’s most impressive sand dunes. Once you arrive at these, your guided tour of the area will begin. Your guide will show you around the park and teach you about some of the animals that live here. The trek itself is not long but it is over sand dunes which can make for challenging terrain.
If you choose to go all the way to the trek viewpoint, you will witness theย jungle meet desert in a shockingly beautiful clash of two ecosystems.ย
After the trek has finished, prepare to begin the real adventure: sandboarding. Your guide will help you to try different sandboarding techniques including both stand up and sit down methods. After some exhilarating boarding, you will hop in the 4WD and be taken back to your drop-off point in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
