Pool Paradise Lima is a risky place for backpackers… it has a cheap bar, three happy hours daily, a pool and regular evening entertainment. Offering literally everything you could ever want in the form of food, booze, company and fun, as well as being located in the trendy Miraflores area of Lima, you’ll be tempted to throw in the travels altogether and just live here!
Great room options
Rooms are not in short supply at Pool Paradise and there are plenty of options to appeal to all budgets. Both private rooms and dorms are offered. As well as the standard bunks, Pool Paradise also offers pod dorms which come with a curtain, light and charging ports. These are a great option for the backpacker who still wants a little privacy. Rooms come with spacious lockers and there are plenty of bathrooms and showers to go around. Dorm beds start at 33 soles per night.
Although there are plenty of hostels that sell alcohol, very few of them have a dedicated bar area. That is not the case here though! Not only is the bar as long as the swimming pool (and that is no dig at the pool!) but Pool Paradise offers three happy hours per day. Yes, you read that correctly, three happy hours a day! There is a mix of both beer and cocktails available and even the chance to try Peru’s famous Pisco drink, something that definitely gets the thumbs up from us!
Pool Paradise is a place that knows exactly what its guests are looking for. It is the only hostel in Lima with a pool are there are pool volleyball matches daily. Evening entertainment is also offered and can be anything from beer pong to salsa classes. This type of environment fosters an amazing social vibe, which means it is a top choice for solo travellers. With a massive garden area to hang out in, not to mention a Netflix room with dedicated film showings, Pool Paradise offers everything that a backpacker could ever want.
Included in the room rate is a filling breakfast served from 8 am to 11 am. As well as the standard offerings of bread, jam, coffee and juice, eggs are also served fried or scrambled depending on preference. This is just the complimentary breakfast though! If you are super hungry, it is possible to boost your breakfast game by opting for one of the paid options which include both meaty and veggie friendly omelettes! Pool Paradise also has an on-site restaurant which serves both Peruvian and international cuisine at reasonable prices. Definitely check out the tequeños which are a kind of cheesy fried snack from South America – they are delicious!
Situated in the glossy tourist district of Miraflores and far removed from the claustrophobic streets of the centre, Pool Paradise is in a great spot. The famous Kennedy Park is only a short walk away and there are various restaurants close to the hostel. The beach is also only a short journey! For travellers looking to explore the historic downtown area of Lima, the metropolitan bus stop is located just one block away and provides regular journeys into the middle of the city. See here for our full Lima travel guide.
For those who fall completely head over heels for Pool Paradise, they also offer the amazing opportunity of volunteering there! In return for working at the hostel for at least two weeks, you will get free accommodation, food and various other discounts. Not only is this a fun hostel with an amazing vibe but volunteering is also a great way to get to know the city of Lima better and save money. It’s official – you don’t ever have to leave!
Dorm beds start at $10 US and privates (twin or double rooms) start at $40 US. There are also female only dorms from $15 US. You can check availability and reserve on Booking.com.
