The pool and the view at Casa Moringa

“A relaxed mansion, hidden away upon the cliffs overlooking the bay of Taganga, Colombia – a backpacker oasis. With a wonderful kitchen, a rooftop pool and a super posh interior, you’ll feel like you’ve rented a home with friends!”

Casa Moringa: Taganga, Colombia

What makes Casa Moringa unique?

Amazing location: Located on the cliff tops looking over Taganga’s beach, this hostel aims to connect backpackers and provide them with a truly unique place to hang their hats. Close to restaurants, bars, and the beach, staying here will ensure that you see an entirely different side to Taganga. Lounge around the pool, chill in a hammock… you may never leave the hostel!

Common areas: We’re talking pure luxury. Plush white marble, gold-framed mirrors, hot-tubs at every turn, hammocks swinging in the wind, a balcony straight out of ‘Romeo and Juliet’. This is the kind of house you can imagine a politician or celebratory living in… and now it has been turned over to Backpackistan!

Incredible kitchen: Of all the hostels I have seen on my travels, the kitchen at Casa Moringa may be one of the best. Not only is it fully stocked with everything you need to cook up a storm but it is laid out so that you can easily arrange shared meals for up to ten people.

Focus on small groups: This is a hostel which could probably sleep over one hundred people but Swedish owners Maria and Frida are determined to maintain a homely atmosphere. There are only 16 dorm beds available and one private which means that there are under 20 people in this amazing place at any one time! This hostel really does feel like you have rented a house with friends!

Homely Atmosphere: The staff here will bring you a cup of tea at night if you’re in the mood, there’s a whole area set up for watching movies and a tranquil interior atmosphere, complete with hammocks, just like you find at home. The staff here are absolutely great, they know everyone’s names and there is an honour system on the beers!

Prices: Dorms starting at 11 dollars. There is one private which is available for 38 dollars.
